Surge Protection PV

PV Surge Protection – dependable DC-side safeguarding

This fuse type indicates surge protective devices (SPDs) designed for photovoltaic systems. They clamp transient overvoltages caused by lightning-induced surges or switching events and safely divert energy to earth, protecting modules, inverters and communication lines.

Typical installation points

  • String and combiner boxes (DC side)
  • Array/sub-field level in large plants
  • Close to the inverter or DC busbars

Key features

  • PV SPD classes Type 1, Type 2 or Type 1+2
  • High DC ratings (e.g. 600–1500 V DC)
  • Pole configurations to match system design (1 to 3 poles)
  • Pluggable modules, visual/electrical status indication
  • Compliant with relevant PV SPD standards

Benefits

  • Reduces downtime and repair costs
  • Improves system availability and yield
  • Supports compliance with design and installation rules

Note: Choose SPD class (Type 1/2/1+2), DC voltage rating and location according to lightning protection concept, string voltage and cabling.
